"Stargon" (2020)

"Stargon" is a baby of an album; I don't have so much connection to it these days. This is long-ago-april's music! But there is something endearing about the crunchy drums and sweetly straightforward chord progressions.

This is the first record I ever made that had a real voice. It also holds the very beginnings of my ambient/soundscape sensibilites.

At the time I was interested in achieving a "lofi" sound (whatever that means). Now my process is built around recording, manipulating, and re-recording, I find that the fidelity lowers itself. I still like the sound of a fuzzy recording, but I havent needed to use one of those tape-emulation plugins in years.

To mear ear, the standout track here is "Cupid's Bow." The drum break in the post-chorus shifts time signatures a couple of times and it's so FUN!!

I'm not sure what else to say about it really. I will come back to this one when I'm in more of a "stargon" mood, and I will say all kinds of things when I do.
